Elvis Presley’s First Sun Session

Elvis Presley's legendary career began to take flight on this day in 1954, when he logged his first session at Sun Studios in Memphis with producer Sam Phillips, guitarist Scotty Moore and bassist Bill Black. That session famously ended with the recording of "That's All Right," the A-side to Elvis' first single—but how did it start?

These previously unreleased takes of "Harbor Lights," a No. 1 hit in 1950 for Sammy Kaye and His Orchestra, mark the beginning of that fateful session, a defining moment for the future King of Rock and Roll.
