Recording a song in the studio can take hours of perfecting. It's not often that an artist can get onstage and capture something more spectacular in a single try. The A.V. Club has compiled a list of 20 live recordings that trump their studio counterparts. Coming in near the top is Elvis Presley's electrifying performance of "Trouble" from 1968's Elvis TV special.
Elvis’ catalog of songs is vast, and for every iconic single like “Blue Suede Shoes,” there are a dozen mostly forgotten studio efforts like “Trouble,” a Lieber and Stoller tune from 1958’s King Creole, that, both musically and lyrically, pays homage to Bo Diddley and Muddy Waters. But the song was immortalized a decade later when Elvis used it to open Elvis, best known as the ’68 Comeback Special.
